On January 22-25, 2010, a team of 40 Laurier delegates travelled Toronto, Ontario to compete at Jeux Du Commerce (JDC) Central. JDC is one of the most prestigious case competitions in the country that has been well respected for the past 21 years. The competition was hosted by the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University this year, with the underlying theme, "Learning from the past; Changing for today; and Growing for tomorrow." Having attracted top talent from 9 different Southern Ontario and Eastern Canadian universities, JDC is a monumental super-competition. The delegates competed in: 6 academic case categories, a debate tournament, social challenges, and a sports competition. Simply put, this weekend was extremely intense, exciting, as well as rewarding for our students.

At the end of it all, our delegation proved that Laurier was the school to beat and brought home the following awards:

  • School of the Year
  • 1st Place - Participation
  • 1st Place - Debate
  • 1st Place - Marketing
  • 1st Place - Business Strategy
  • 2nd Place - Sports
  • 2nd Place - Management of Information Systems (MIS)
  • 2nd Place - Entrepreneurship
  • 2nd Place - Charity
  • 3rd Place - Finance

Congratulations to Team Captains Hani Migally and Mike Zeagman, as well as the entire Laurier delegation on their success!
