About JDC Central

The JDC Central Business Competition is the largest academic case competition in Central Canada, and the only event of its kind to combine academics, athletics and social challenges to put undergraduate business students to the test in a highly competitive and spirited environment.

The competition will comprise of eight (8) academic cases, a parliamentary-style debate, an athletic tournament, and social challenges throughout the weekend. Prior to the event, each university will take an active role in Groovin' for Charity, an initiative to support a common charity through volunteer hours and monetary support. Teams are also required to complete their own charitable ventures throughout the academic year and are evaluated on such.

Academic Case Teams
(Students must currently be in 2nd year or higher to compete)
Team Laurier will be sending students in teams of three to compete in the following academic cases at JDC Central 2012:

• Accounting  
• Business Strategy
• Entrepreneurship  
• Finance
• Human Resource Management
• International Business
• Management Information Systems  
• Marketing 

Debate
We will also be sending a four-person team to compete in an exciting Canadian parliamentary style debate. This team is open to all current Laurier business students. Prior debate experience is an asset, but not required.

Social
The social team is comprised of four outgoing individuals to compete in outrageous social challenges. These four highly spirited students will be doing events such as scavenger hunts across the city (think "Amazing Race") to competing in Mock-case competitions, and anything in between.

Sports
Eight individuals will be selected for the sports competition to participate in this years chosen sports of Flag Football and Planet Ball. The sports team is open to all current Laurier business students.
