Welcome to the Laurier Academic Case Conference Sponsored by the ICAO!
Founded in 2011, the Laurier Academic Case Conference (LACC) will be hosting its second annual conference on March 23rd and 24th, 2012. The LACC, which is a part of Wilfrid Laurier University’s School of Business & Economics Students’ Society (SBESS), is a two-day conference geared towards first year students within Laurier’s School of Business & Economics.
The first day of the conference comprises of an opening ceremony, a multiple choice exam, and a networking session. The opening ceremony will include the welcoming of all the guests and delegates, breakdown of the conference, a speech from the keynote speaker, and a few words from the Event Chairs. The multiple choice exam will be comprehensive, and will cover all key-functional areas of the BU121course, one of the main first year business courses. This is toprepare students for the course’s final exam in April. During the networking event, students will be given the opportunity to meet and greet with fellow Laurier Alumni and corporate guests that represent various industries.
The second day of the conference comprises of a team business case competition, workshops throughout the day, and awards and closing ceremonies. The real life business case will feature problems and issues that companies may face in daily activities, and will challenge the delegates to find creative solutions to be presented to judges. Teams will deliver professional presentations to a panel of esteemed judges consisting of Laurier Faculty, Laurier Alumni and corporate guests. Judges will be given the opportunity to view the presentations, ask insightful questions and provide meaningful feedback to teams. Furthermore, during times when students will not be preparing or presenting their cases, they will be taking part in various workshops for improving interview skills and handling the pressures of multiple choice exams. Additioanlly review of the previous day’s multiple choice exam will also occur. The closing ceremony will include a summary of the two days and a speech from another keynote speaker. Lastly, awards for the weekend will be given to participants for the multiple choice and case competition winners.
