Welcome to the Laurier Academic Case Conference Sponsored by the ICAO!
The School of Business and Economics Students’ Society (SBESS) is proud to announce their annual event, the Laurier Academic Case Conference (LACC)! This event, which was initiated in March of 2011, is a conference designed to assist first year students in preparing for the BU121 examinations. Using core concepts learnt in the BU121 class, the LACC combines testing and cases to offer competitors an opportunity to improve their presentations skills, strengthen their academic performance as well as network with various potential employers, faculty members and upper year students.
The Laurier Academic Case Conference is a two day event designed to enrich the first year experience. With an Opening Ceremonies, Networking Event, Multiple Choice Examination and a Case Competition, students will have the opportunity to grow within the competition. Additionally an Award Ceremonies and Closing Ceremonies offer students recognition for their participation and feedback on their performance during the weekend.
This Case Conference is associated with the SBE Mentorship Program Portfolio, and is designed to enrich the educational experience of the students entered in their first year as a part of the School of Business and Economics.

At the beginning of the event, there will be an Opening Ceremonies which consists of a Keynote speech, and gives a breakdown of the event. Afterward there will be a Multiple Choice Examination to test the students on BU121 content, for which there will be awards. Furthermore there will be a networking event, where there will be industry professionals, professors and upper year students.
Companies to be represented at the networking event will be announced in the near future.
The Second day will consist of a Case Competition which includes concepts from BU121 and has an entrepreneurial spin on it. After-which there will be a Closing/Award Ceremonies and a Mix and Mingle event.
The ultimate aim of the LACC is to expose first year business and economics students to case situations and prepare the students for final examinations. LACC 2012 will be a great end for your first year in the WLU business or economics program, as well as a great start to the rest of your university career!
