Welcome to the SBE Mentorship Program
Entering university can be a challenging yet an amazing experience. For first year students, the School of Business and Economics Students’ Society (SBESS) has created a mentorship program to ensure that your experience at Laurier is not only amazing, but also rewarding and memorable.
Assisting to ensure a smooth transition into the program, upper-year students are trained to provide you with information and answer any questions you may have about the Business or Economics programs, Laurier, or university life in general.
When you sign up for an SBE Mentor, you will be grouped together with 5 other first year students within the School of Business and Economics. In your group of 6, you will have 2 upper year students, or mentors. You will meet bi-weekly or as often as you want and be able to communicate via email to ask any questions or voice your concerns. Additionally there will be monthly academic challenges for all the teams to compete in and social events that follow. These activities together will allow you to network with your peers and seek the advice of upper-year students.
We strongly encourage every student to take advantage of this program as you can never have too many resources. The upper-year students involved in the program are excited to assist first-year students in reaching their goals while at Laurier, and serve as an irreplaceable asset to new students!
